Reference # 360-331
Early Victorian mechanical gong door bell in cast iron circa 1875. Assembly mounts directly through an exterior door with the lever handle (above left) on the outside and the bell (above right) mounts inside - the operating stem (shown in side view below) from the handle mounts through the door into the bell to trip the bell and ring. Cast iron lever "t" style handle, measures 5" x 2 1/4" wide. Plain cast iron mechanical bell measures 4 3/4" in diameter and is 5 1/4" on center at the mount holes. Bell rings with a single hearty gong that can be heard throughout the house. Complete and restored to working order, bell is adjustable to any door thickness up to 1 1/2" maximum without special modifications. Bells and handles were sold separately - several bells were offered with a large variety of handles, and customer's chose each individually. Comes with slotted screws.
