Antique Door Bells and Door Knockers
Reference # 360-485
Antique mechanical gong door bell manufactured circa 1890, with a pull knob activator. The ornate pull knob mounts on the doorjamb on the outside of the door. The bell transfer (item on the left in photo above) mounts inside on the doorjamb directly in line with bell pull. The bell transfer re-directs a connecting wire between pull and bell, which is mounted directly above the transfer, normally about the height of the or slightly above the door. The transfer measures 3 3/8" x 7/8" with a 1" dia. wheel. When the knob is pulled out, the connecting wire from knob spindle travels around the pulley to the bell operator that rings the bell. The hanging bell operator is seen hanging below bell in photos. Each pull rings the bell with a single hearty gong. Decorative bronze exterior pull knob is backed with ornate rosette measuring 3 3/8" high x 1 3/8" wide with the knob being 1 3/4" in diameter. The bronze mechanical bell is 4 3/4" in diameter on an iron housing measuring 7" high x 2 1/8" shown from back in photo below. All restored, complete, and in excellent working condition. Comes with slotted screws.
