Wrought iron hasp catch with a pivot drop hook.  Hasp measures 12 3/4" deep x 1" wide overall and is right hand only - not reversible.  The drop hook is 4" with a 2" drop.  Accompanied by the U staple which mounts through the slot for the hook to drop into securing a door.  Nice end curl used as the pull measures about 1 3/8" extension.  This type of latch was used for many applications during the 18th and 19th century wherever a door needed a one sided catch.  For the most part they were used in exterior applications and show surface pitting from weather and age as this one does.
