Locks, page 14
In 1858 Russell & Erwin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, Connecticut, patented and manufactured a series of "upright rim knob locks" depicting American scenes and symbols. Locks were named "Emigrant", "Pioneer", "Village", and "Eagle". These locks were cast in three dimensional high relief with beveled edges and were handed (non-reversible) locks. Each lock is named on the back along with the patent date of August 10, 1858. Below we offer three of the four locks in the set restored and complete.
