A rare early American cast iron vertical rim lock with beveled or molded edges, circa 1850's, by the Hammacher, Schlemmer & Co. New York City, NY (signed on the back).  This lock features a raised relief American eagle on the lock front as shown below.   Molded edge cast iron locks were not reversible and this is a left hand only.  Lock measures 5" high x 3 3/4" across  without the keeper which is 1" additional and mounts on the jamb.  Complete with original swirl mineral door knobs, cast iron rosette and key escutcheon and one key.   Lock latch and bolt are brass.  Restored to black finish and complete, ready to install with slotted mounting screws.  Excellent quality signed American lock from the mid 19th Century.
