Ornate cast iron vertical rim lock signed BLW (Branford Lock
Works, Branford,
CT) on both sides, circa 1865.
Lock measures 4 1/4" high x 3 1/2" across without the 1" keeper and is
reversible, restored to black finish, and complete with cast iron trim key
escutcheon, rosette, and keyed. Accompanied by original white porcelain
door knobs. Both sides of the lock have the same decorative detail - right
hand pictured above, left hand pictured below. Lock has a night liatch
operated by the toggle seen at the top edge of the lock which locks the knobs
for privacy without using the keyed bolt. The Branford Lock Works logo is
in the center of the lock. Backset is 2 1/2". Complete - a well manufactured door lock from
the mid 1800's. Ready to install - comes with slotted screws.
