Cast iron Victorian surface mount rim lock, manufactured circa 1890.  Rim locks were sometimes used in combination with full escutcheon plates such as above in lieu of the rosette and key escutcheon on the off-side.  This gives a more formal look to the exterior of the door and was quite popular.  Lock measures 4" x 3 1/8" and is reversible, restored, complete with white porcelain knobs.  Each lock comes with one key.  Escutcheon plate measures 5 1/2" x 1 1/2" and is decorative wrought steel.  Nigh latch at the top of the locks allows the knobs to be locked for privacy without using the keyed deadbolt.  Restored to black finish, complete, ready to install.
