An early square cornered Pennsylvania German or Dutch removable screw-off exterior handle latch in rare fan lever style circa 1830.  This latch is beautifully made with the fan levers measuing
2 3/4" x 1 1/2".  Round rosette is 2 1/2".  Lock body measures 3 1/8" high x 6 5/8" deep x 1" and offers a slide privacy bolt seen under the latch.  This type of lock is not reversible and is left hand only and will fit a door up to a maximum of 1 1/4" and cannot be modified for more.  This type of lock was used on both interior and exterior doors as the removable handle was actually used as the "key".  When you left home or just wanted privacy, the handle was removed so the latch could not be operated from the outside.  Lock is in excellent condition, restored, and complete with German keeper shown to the left of the lock measures 3" x 1 3/16".  Complete with slotted mounting screws.
