Cast iron Blake style thumb latch.  Blake latches were manufactured by most of the major hardware manufacturers for many years. Patented in 1842 - this type of thumb latch could still be found in some form in catalogs for about 100 years. Handle measures 6 3/4" high x 1 3/4" at widest with inside grip opening of 3 5/8".   The original off-side bar sets offers 5" bar with mount ring, 2 1/4" high staple, and side mount keeper.  When mounted, the thumb lift shown below left protrudes through the door and rests under the bar for operation and acts as a grasp to lift the bar from that side.  This latch can work on a door maximum thickness of 1 3/8".  Restored and complete, comes with slotted mounting screws.
