Cast iron Blake style thumb latch.  Blake latches were manufactured by most of the major hardware manufacturers for many years. Patented in 1842 - this type of thumb latch could still be found in some form in catalogs for about 100 years. Handle measures 6 3/4" high with a 3 1/2" grip opening.   The original off-side bar sets offers 4 1/2" bar with mount ring, surface mount staple, and side mount jamb keeper.  When mounted, the thumb lift shown from side view below protrudes through the door and rests under the bar for operation and acts as a grasp to lift the bar from that side.  This latch can work on a door maximum thickness of 1 3/8".  Restored to black finish and complete, comes with slotted mounting screws.
