Early Suffolk arrowhead style thumb latch in wrought iron, circa 1810.  Thumb press is an early flat swivel straight lift (shown below left) which will accommodate a door up to 1 3/8" thick.  Handle measures 9 1/2" high x 2 7/8" at widest point across.  Hand grasp has a 4" grip opening and is nicely worked into a flat handle 7/8" wide with two double incised lines for decoration.  The accompanying original bar set, pictured below right,  has a 7 1/2" bar with a folded end, a 2" high drive-in staple and a drive-in jamb keeper.  Restored and complete - comes with mounting screws.

A nicely executed wrought iron single upper cusp Suffolk style thumb latch, 18th century.  The flat  handle is well formed with a 5" grip opening.  The thumb press is flat with a notch lift which will accommodate a door up to 1 1/4" thick without modification. Handle measures 8 3/4" high x 2 3/8" at upper cusp.  The thumb press features a nicely arched finger lift on the off-side.  The accompanying original bar set features a 5" bar, drive-in keeper and staple.  All parts of the bar set are original.  The set is "as found" and is complete but not restored. Very nice condition.

A nicely executed wrought iron Suffolk style thumb latch, early 18th century, featuring non-matching upper and lower cusps.  The flat  handle below the cusp is well formed with a 3 3/4" grip opening.  The thumb press is flat and straight on the off-side which will accommodate a door up to 1" thick without modification. Handle measures 9 1/2" high x 1 5/8" at upper cusp and 1 3/4" at lower cusp.  The accompanying original bar set features a 6" bar, drive-in staple and drive-in rat tail keeper.  All parts of the bar set are original.  The set is "as found" and is complete but not restored. Very nice condition.

Victorian cottage thumb latch in decorative cast iron manufactured circa 1875.  Handle measures 6 1/2" high x 1 7/8" with a 4" grip opening.  The off-side latches, pictured below, measure 4 1/4" x 2 1/2" high.  These latches will fit a door up to 1 3/8" thick and are  restored, reversible, and complete, ready to install.  Complete latch includes the handle pictured above and a latch set below with back plate which includes the staple, the bar, and the jamb keeper.  The privacy lock is mounted above the bar in the top staple hole as shown below in the unlocked position and can be swiveled out and downward against the bar so the latch cannot be opened by the handle on the other side.  Restored and complete with slotted screws.

Cast iron Blake style thumb latch.  Blake latches were manufactured by most of the major hardware manufacturers for many years. Patented in 1842 - this type of thumb latch could still be found in some form in catalogs for about 100 years. Handle measures 6 3/4" high.   The original off-side bar sets offers 5 1/2" bar with mount ring, staple 2 1/4" high, and side mount jamb keeper.  When mounted, the thumb lift shown below left protrudes through the door and rests under the bar for operation and acts as a grasp to lift the bar from that side.  This latch can work on a door maximum thickness of 1 3/8".  Restored and complete, comes with slotted mounting screws.
